St. Thomas The Apostle

In the 75 years since the humble beginnings of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Hempstead, the parish has grown, evolved and changed with the times yet in many ways some things remain the same. Despite dramatic liturgical reform after Vatican II and steady social, political and cultural changes, St. Thomas the Apostle still remains a source of strength and spirit and a beacon in the community of West Hempstead. Everyday for the last 75 years the doors swing open and faithful parishioners bend their knees and bow their heads in prayer. A candle burns brightly before the Blessed Sacrament and that candle like the spirit of St. Thomas will never go out.
